We ended up coming face to face with the paranormal as we embarked on a ghost-hunting adventure at the ruins of Ashby de la Zouch Castle, a place drenched in history and spine-tingling legends.

Ashby de la Zouch has seen centuries of drama—battles, betrayals, and sorrow—and some say the spirits of the past never truly left.

As paranormal investigators and medium, we’re somewhat skeptical until we see some proof ourselves.

And let me tell you, after that night, we’ve got a heads-up for you:

Be careful of what you wish for!

You must watch this episode to see for yourself why we are saying this but, here’s one of our evidence screenshots taken from that night.

We captured this spooky entity on camera right across from the Ashby de la Zouch Castle Ruins. It showed up in the background and looked like it was watching us while we were doing our paranormal investigation.

Ashby de la Zouch link to the English Civil War

Ashby de la Zouch played a role in the English Civil War. Henry Hastings used Ashby as a Royalist stronghold. It played a key role in connecting Royalist activities between the north and south. Hastings made sure to fortify both the town and the castle extensively. During this tumultuous period, the castle faced a siege that caused significant destruction, leading to the suffering and deaths of numerous soldiers and civilians involved.

Many believe that the intense paranormal activity at the castle is linked to the spirits of those who lost their lives during this dark chapter.

The Hastings Family

Among Ashby de la Zouch’s many legends, the hauntings associated with the Hastings family stand out as some of the most chilling and persistent tales.

The Ghostly Presence of Lady Hastings at Ashby de la Zouch Castle Ruins

One of the most well-documented apparitions is that of Lady Hastings, often referred to as the Grey Lady. Some believe she is forever searching for a lost love, while others say she mourns the tragedies that befell her family.

Visitors have reported eerie sightings of a misty female figure drifting through the ruins, accompanied by an unsettling chill in the air.

Some claim to hear soft whispers when no one else is present, as if she is attempting to communicate with the living.

The Shadow of William, Lord Hastings

William, Lord Hastings, was a powerful noble and close confidant of King Edward IV. However, his fortunes took a dire turn when he was abruptly executed in 1483 under the orders of Richard III. Some say his spirit never left Ashby de la Zouch, the place he once called home.

Our very own experience at Haunted Ashby de la Zouch Castle Ruins

Paranormal investigator Vega reacts to paranormal activity at Ashby de la Zouch castle ruins

The moment we heard heavy footsteps coming towards us from Ashby de la Zouch Castle Ruins’s yard.

We left the castle with our pulses still racing, unable to shake the feeling that something—or someone—had been there with us. Believe in ghosts or not, there’s no denying the unsettling atmosphere that clings to Ashby de la Zouch Castle.

It was just a basic paranormal investigation night until Vega reviewed the footage at home and spotted an eerie figure right across from the Ashby de la Zouch Castle ruins watching us while we were doing our paranormal investigation.

Her very words were:

-What the f**k is that?

Vega was totally at a loss for a few minutes, and then it hit her:

-If that wasn’t something supernatural, we could have been in serious trouble!

-But hold on!

-How could anyone even get to that spot?

-We checked the entire area before starting the investigation, and there’s no way anyone could have made it there. There’s no path for walking or driving!

We shared confused and fearful looks before falling silent.

We ought to head back to the ruins of Ashby de la Zouch Castle sometime, or should we?
